Thanks for your comment! ‘Elaborate’ is an understatement with regards to the ancient Egyptian ceremonies, and this is why I’m so intrigued by them. If you take a quick read through the Book of the Dead, you’ll find very specific actions, spells and incantations, which the initiate is required to perform, as they progress upwards through the various stages of death to become the resurrected Osiris. Somehow I think we’re missing out in our modern understanding of death and the preparation for the inevitable…
