Navigating the Afterlife – The Egyptian Book of the Duat – 12 Layers of Death

One of my most popular posts is the Egyptian 9 Parts of the Soul, so I’m doing some research for a series of posts on this subject.

I found these awesome videos about the Egyptian belief not only in the afterlife, but how this was enacted nightly by travelling through the 12 hours of the Duat.

The Book of the Duat was a manual for getting through the 12 spiritual realms.   It contained the spells, fomulas and incantations required to traverse the 12 hours of night, but more importantly it was a guide to the afterlife…
