Read Between the Lines – “No Pain No Gain”
Let’s consider this cliché on a more esoteric level.
Commonly used as a motivator to encourage us to stay the course of personal growth no matter the initial cost, the phrase infers that some sort of payment will be required before success can be attained – although what that payment might be is not clear.
No Pain, No Gain upstages the current pop-self-help which implies it’s easy to achieve and obtain what you believe you deserve. Many authors and speakers suggest that if you merely focus on a goal, visualize it as real, and accept it into your life, it will magiclly appear….
If it doesn’t, you must be doing something wrong!
Missing from this idea of easy acquisition is the mention of any sacrifice which might be required on your part. Many ancient texts are very clear with regards to your responsibility in the creation of your experience.
The Promise of Patience
From The Bhagavad-Gita: “This world is not for the one who makes no sacrifice…In this way, various forms of sacrifice are set forth…Know that all these issue from action, for when you know this you will be released.”
This personal payment, or sacrifice, could be composed of many things, but one element usually required is patience. By patience I mean long-term, focused intention. They believe the stuff should just come to them because they asked. Isn’t that what the universal abundance is all about? To reiterate, I’ve never said learning how to affect your experience would be easy! In fact, for some people it is simply impossible at this stage of their life to align with a preferred outcome.
They just aren’t ready yet. And that is OK.
For those who are ready (and you are one of those people if you are reading this book), there are several aspects of the equation to consider with two of prime interest: focus and acceptance.
Part 2 elaborates on these two skills…
