Creating Your Objective Observer – Part 3
In part 1 of this series, I introduced the concept of what is your Objective Observer and in part 2 I discussed how to start to create your Objective Observer.
In medieval Europe, the blacksmith was so named because he worked with the black metal; iron.
One of his primary duties of was to strengthen the weak iron by pounding in small amounts of carbon and continuously heating it and cooling it again and again.
This was called “tempering” and the process turned the soft iron into hardened steel.
But the fire was the true impetus for the chemical change. We all know base metals become pliable when heated; do you know why?
The vibrating molecules which make up the metal are naturally attracted to each other, and are very happy to exist in a dense metallic state while in the normal temperature range and pressure on the surface of our planet.
But when heated, these normally slow moving electrons (which are the fundamental building blocks of the dense metal molecules) become excited and start to dance!
The increase in temperature (remember heat is just a vibrating wave of frequencies) causes the electrons to vibrate at a much higher frequency.
The molecules become agitated from the heat which slowly forces them apart. As they separate, the physical substance of the metal becomes pliable.
When the metal is sufficiently heated, such that it can be manipulated by human hands, the molecules are vibrating at a higher frequency caused by the injection of heat energy, and their original form can be changed.
You Are What You Think
This process of bending your emotions to your specifications is the most valuable work you can do. The finished product is an outcome of focused thought and action. It is a new creation, unlike any other.
To apply this metaphor to your developing Objective Observer, you will now be looking for opportunities to “fix” those aspects of yourself which serve you, while abandoning those which do not.
You need to transform yourself into hardened steel. This takes hard work and repetitive action.
Forging hot iron into tempered steel requires the release of those aspects of your personality which no longer serve you.
The process described herein, forces you to put more energy into focusing on what you want to have in your experience. By moving the focus away from what you don’t want, those things will slowly dissolve from your experience.
When you release those unwanted aspects of yourself, which only cause you pain and drama, you will have a new experience of the world
Your task now is to learn how to put this Objective Observer into action on your behalf.
Stabilizing Your Observer
This involves “forging” your Objective Observer into place. This is not a one-time activity. It requires continuous repetition and focus.
A Japanese Samurai sword could have as many as 4000 layers. That’s a lot of forging!
This is the third lesson of this phrase. Developing your Objective Observer is relatively easy, but to now use it to step in and take control of your emotional demons will be the real test of your metal.
The reference to the craft of metal working is absolutely applicable to this task, as the concept of metal becoming pliable through applied heat offers an intriguing metaphor to better understand what is required to achieve a shift in your neural net.
