What is “The Hidden Power of Language”? How Does Language Affect You?

What is the Hidden Power of Language?

The Hidden Power of Language is the subtitle for my new book, Reading Between the Lines, The Hidden Power of Language.

But why did I choose that phrase?

It’s been suggested to me that as a book sub-title it isn’t really descriptive enough about what the benefits of the book are to you the reader.

And while that is a fair assessment from a professional publishing point of view, the symbolism of the phrase was an important part of my decision to use it.

According to esoteric wisdom, the most powerful chakra is the throat chakra, and it is through the practise of raising the Kundalini energy, from the base or root chakra, upwards to then find its outward expression through the throat chakra in the way of words, which gives you the ability to directly affect your experience of life.

Consider the following two quotes:

From the Christian Bible – John 1:1:  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

From the Qur’an – “And Our word unto a thing, when We intend it, is only that We say unto it: Be! and it is (16:40; cf. 36:81).”

So there is a certain assumption, taught by two of the world’s most popular religions, that God uses language to create!

I find the quote from the Qur’an particularly revealing considering all of the research I’ve done on the power of using thoughts and intentions to have an effect on your experience of the world….”when we intend it, is only that we say unto it; be!”

The “hidden power of language” is actually describing the potent effects which words can have on both you and those around you.

Many of the leading teachers and speakers in the personal development industry use the concept of ‘affirmations’ as part of their training and development programs.

Why?

Why does saying something positive about yourself, to yourself, make any difference?  They’re only words right?

Wrong!  This is the hidden message!

The power of language is hidden because most of us simply talk ourselves silly without ever putting much time into thinking about what we are actually saying…

I’m sure you’ve heard sayings like “God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason”, or “listen before you speak” or “speak no evil, hear no evil”…and why do these phrases exist?  To remind us of the awesome power of language!

How many times have you said something off-handedly to someone, and they took it the wrong way and totally blew it out of proportion, which then created a huge interpersonal drama for you both?

It happens all the time because people associate tremendous power to words!

If you take the time to stop and think about what you’re about to say before you say it, you will start to understand the power of language in your life.

At the very least, stop talking about the negative things in your life!

Speaking and thinking negatively WILL bring you more negativity and challenge!

In my book, I go into quite a bit of detail on exactly how to utilize your thoughts, intentions and words to help you create the experience of life you prefer.

I hope you now have a slightly better understanding of the true hidden power of language.

”when we intend it, is only that we say unto it; be!”
